Two Poems by Sanjeev Sethi
Subtext
Vocabulary, as you and I understand it,
dissipates. On the bedstead another one
direct and diaphanous begins its boogie.
The tone is irenic. Sheets respond to alp-
habets in callisthenic frames lisping unique
cuneiforms. Haptic sensations accelerate
the eagerness. Breath decodes umpteen
backronyms. Outside the bedchamber
the argot is empty.
Aileron
Percussion of perimeters conceive
their idiophone. In its air, a zillion
mirrors doze. Without images un-
reality doesn’t interdigitate. It’s
like being in love with an old
photograph. Aplanetic posture is
for the moribund. The feirie wish
to flow. In newfound contexts, time-
worn vocabularies spill fresh posts.
New words dance to the locker of
lexeme. In donnybrook, textures
uncover their gestic dresses.
