Pulling Apart The Incandescent Threads

Episode Notes: I talked with bestselling novelist Richard Zimler in late January of this year. At the time, he was in Portugal, and I was in the Boston area, but we connected over Zoom.
We focused on Richard's latest novel, The Incandescent Threads, a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award. Yet our conversation, like his novel about family relationships and survival across the generations, traveled many threads, both spiritual and artistic. The Incandescent Threads is part of his Sephardic Cycle, a series of independent works that explore the lives of different branches and generations of a Portuguese-Jewish family, the Zarcos.
In 2023, Parthian Books, Richard’s current publisher, will be reissuing three other of the Sephardic Cycle novels – Hunting Midnight, Guardian of the Dawn and The Seventh Gate – as well as the standalone work The Search for Sana. For more about Richard, including some of his past work in Talking Writing, see the links below.
